Overview

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited is a joint venture between ICICI Bank and the United States-based Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (www.fairfax.ca). With approximately 2,000 employees and 75 offices across India, ICICI Lombard is one of India's bigest private insurers in the general insurance sector.

ICICI Lombard's IT vision is of enabling customers, partners and agents to locate information quickly and effeciently. To achieve this vision, ICICI Lombard built it's Portal using Helix Web content management solution. The CMS based website, delivered in just 5 weeks, is designed for easy and flexiable deployment, administration and application development.


Challenge

In 2004, ICICI Lombard had created a website. Over a period of time, the website had grown into a online marketplace that offered a number of services to it's customers. However as the business and number of visitor grew, the organisation faced several challenges. In a period of one year the website had grown from 250 to 700 pages. This led to maintenance issues such as dead-links that required manual intervention. The company did not have a clear policy on archiving, hence, archiving was not a schedule activity. This resulted in outdated information dissemination. Most of all the website became dead slow, hampeing the online sales.


Solution

ICICI Lombard Marketing managers turned to Helix when the company began looking for solution that would be user-firnedly, scalable and manageable. The executives also sought the most effective solution to enable customers help themselves.

ICICI Lombard management decided to build it's portal on Helix Web Content Management Solution because this option provided a cost effective solution that met it's marketing goals.

The project team was organized according to the Helix Solution Framework team model. A requirements-gathering process concentrated on undertanding the needs of various users. During the requirements-gathering phase, approximately 12 custom requirement were idenfified. Of these 9 were identified as "must-have's" by the ICICI Lombard team. These requirements have been made availabel on the portal, completing the project in just 5 weeks.
